The Facilitator Development workshop (FDW), is a training event intended to prepare experienced faculty to lead the Instructional Skills Workshop* (ISW). Participants in the FDW have the opportunity to develop new techniques for facilitating group development and receive feedback on their own teaching and facilitation skills. I was mentored during FDW by Dr. Mike Atkinson, Western University.
*ISW is an intense 3 day (24 hours) workshop designed “to help participants develop increased competence and confidence as facilitators of learning and to provide resources to assist individuals to become more reflective teaching practitioners.” ISW participants engage in topics surrounding topics in teaching and learning, deliver 3-10 minute mini-lessons, and give and receive feedback on the learner experience.
