The Western Active Learning Space opened in 2014.   Because of the emphasis I place on active learning and my willingness to experiment with technology, the room was a perfect fit for my Environmental Change course, and I signed on to teach in WALS.  The technology and layout of the room eased the facilitation of active learning activities that I had previously designed for the course. In addition, the students were able to use the technology (e.g., projecting from their own computers) to their advantage on small group activities, like research proposal design and case study analysis.
